Many of the countries which are situated in the Mediterranean Sea are popular vacation destinations. European and UK holidaymakers flock to various parts of the Med in Summer to enjoy the beautiful weather and lovely beaches. This area actually enjoys all year round tourism and has much to offer.
When you consider this area seriously you realise just how many countries are in this region.
The countries that surround the Med belong to three different continents. These are Africa, Asia and Europe. The countries are:

- Italy
- Slovenia
- Croatia
- Bosnia-Herzegovina
- Montenegro
- Albania
- Greece
- Turkey
- Syria
- Cyprus
- Lebanon
- Israel
- Egypt
- Libya
- Tunisia
- Algeria
- Morocco
Later this year Hubby and I are visiting the Balearic Islands which are located in the Med. This will be our first visit to these Islands. Over the years our Mediterranean vacations have not disappointed. The climate is good, the people are friendly and the culture is diverse. There are so many different countries within such a relatively small area that you are spoilt for choice.

A lovely read. I would love to visit soime of these places again, not that I've been to all but some I have. The climate is so similar to our Cape Town it sometimes feels very homely!

South of France is my favourite location, although now got a soft spot for Italy of course :-)

It is a beautiful area, and the beaches are pristine. I have enjoyed the french and italian coasts of the mediterranean, and there is so much more to see.

Thanks all. It was an answer to a question. Peggy we are visiting Menorca. Have never really visited Spain apart from a day trip to Seville and Gibraltar so I am getting excited. I love travel and wish I could afford more.

Wow-NICE travel plans--When I lived in the UK I didn't make it across to France, or up north to Scotland. I have always wanted to visit the Greek Islands, ever since as a girl I saw The Moonspinners with Hayley Mills!

I have never visited Croatia but it looks stunning para.
I think Croatia could be my favourite of the Mediterranean countries I've visited, but there are so many different 'flavours' in the region that I'd probably have a different answer tomorrow!
