Modern, Easy-Care, Stainless Steel Microwave Ovens

Microwaves have been around now for quite some time. Like many other household items they have changed over the years. As with cell phones, microwaves have become more compact, over time.

Our first microwave was purchased in the mid 80s. It was cumbersome, cream and brown and had a stainless steel interior. It lasted for years and was eventually resigned to the rubbish heap, as it had become old fashioned, too bulky and I was unsure of its safety. For some reason its longevity worried me. I felt that perhaps those micro-waves were bouncing around the kitchen causing bodily harm.

As is so often the case, I would probably have been better sticking with the old, tried and tested goods.

I have since had a couple of microwave ovens but none have lived up to expectations. Each microwave has certainly cost less than my original Brother machine but has been hard to keep clean and maintain.

The new, stainless steel ovens will hopefully fulfil a modern household's cooking needs and be easy to maintain.

 If you are looking to purchase a new microwave over consider:-

• Cooking needs. How many people will you be cooking for? Is the microwave, for example, simply to be used for heating up ready meals or defrosting food? Will you be using your microwave as the main cooking oven?
• Kitchen design and space. Whether you have a tiny galley kitchen or a huge kitchen extension you should be able to purchase the right microwave oven for you. It is possible to buy integrated microwave appliances that fit with your kitchen units or one that integrates with your traditional oven. Think about the placing of your microwave before you buy.
• Practicality. Stainless Steel microwaves are easy to clean and keep looking good. Follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions for the best results. Modern microwaves usually have touch-pads to operate the microwave but see what is available. If you have mobility issues a modern microwave that has chunky knobs and handles may suit you better.
• Rating. Look for a microwave that is rated economically efficient in order to save money and help the environment. Higher power rated microwaves need less cooking time.
• Cost. Microwaves have really come down in price in recent years. The most expensive will not necessarily be the best option for you but neither will the cheapest. Decide on a budget and try to work within it. A very cheap microwave may need replacing in no time at all and actually work out more expensive.

The beauty with stainless steel microwaves is that many are in a classic style. If you opt for one that is garish and very on trend it may soon look dated. The choice is yours.

For longevity of your stainless steel microwave choose a good brand name microwave that has a high power rating, is modern but classically stylish and meets your requirements.
